It has been a long day but I think it has been a nice day. We were out of the house in Flagstaff around 4:15, made it up to Grand Canyon in time for sunrise and then had a wonderful breakfast at the El Tovar Hotel.

We spent several hours visiting the visitor center and several viewpoints along the east rim (Desert View Drive). We stopped at Yavapai Point, Grandview Point, Moran Point and Desert View. At Grandview Point we hiked down the first quarter mile or so of the Grandview Trail for some better views and to take some photos.

We had a light lunch at Desert View and ended up getting to Fredonia around 5:30 or so. We also made short stops at Navajo Bridge in Marble Canyon and then at the Vermillion Cliffs Cafe at Lee's Ferry Lodge for a beer.

Once checked into the hostel in Fredonia we spent some time sorting and repacking gear at the hostel and then all had dinner together at Nedra's Too Mexican Restaurant in Kanab, Utah.
