Greetings Webmates,
This is the first in a set of electronic postcards coming to you from my most recent hiking trip to the Grand Canyon. Today I hiked down the Tanner Trail from Lipan Point to the Colorado River at Tanner Rapids. The view shown here is taken from near the top of the trail, just a little east of the trailhead. I am camped on a dune just above the rapids and the view of the Palisades of the Desert is incredible. Tomorrow I take off up-river along the Beamer Trail to the Colorado River's confluence with the Little Colorado River. It's going to be a long day, something like 18-20 miles roundtrip.
