I have done a lot of work on the site over the past couple of months to move away from the mostly static HTML pages and begin driving the content from a backend MySQL database. This initially started with the new trip report viewer and I later added the ability to drive the photos maps for a trip from the database as well. Most recently I have changed the photo locator maps which use the USGS quad maps to also be driven from the database.

• Brave New World

  I lost my free hosting service for Grand Canyon Explorer at Aspect1 Internet Services and I am now hosting Grand Canyon Explorer myself under my BobsPixels.com photography web site. If you enjoy the Grand Canyon Explorer web site and would like to help support it you might consider purchasing a photograph from BobsPixels.com.

  Moving the site created some problems that I will be working to fix over the upcoming weeks. Most of these have to do with images not loading or not displaying properly. I decided to re-do the trip report viewer and in the process updated (and in some cases renamed) many of the photos from some of the older trip reports. As a result some pages no longer link to the correct images.

  I have access to lots of nifty new tools like PHP and MySQL on the new server and will doing a major overhaul of some of the site areas over the next year or so. The trip report enhancements were only start. Stay tuned for more.
